  • A very fine Mexican Folk Retablo created by Concepción Ávila, also known as the "Bee Sting Lip Painter" - one of the great Retablo Masters whose unique painterly style is evident in this piece.
  • Retablo dimensions are approx. 10 inches vertical x 7 inches horizontal
  • symbolizes the moment after the Resurrection, not the deposition from the cross, representing a spiritual, not just physical, connection where she accepts his divine journey, while also emphasizing her role as humanity's spiritual mother, accepting her sorrow and Jesus's ascension rather than clinging to his earthly form.
