Yoruba Female Orisha Statuette, Nigeria #78
A Female Figure proudly presenting an offering cup in her hands for the Worship of the Orisha (most often Shango), was intended for the Divinatory Ritual of the Ifa and carefully preserved by the Soothsayer.
Treated with refinement and naturalism, Her hairstyle shows Her status as a Young Bride. The graceful and youthful silhouette is composed of perfectly arranged geometric shapes: the neck is cylindrical, the arms angular, and the breasts conical. The body is covered with scarifications. A Child is on her back.
