
The Story
- Yoruba Shango Ceremonial Staff PAIR, Nigeria #649
- They represent Shango, god of war and thunder. The sculpture is strong, hard angle, geometric shapes decomposed and simplification of the representation. Through these characteristics, the sculptor was able to give an undeniable presence to these two characters. Beautiful dry patina, we will note the crust on the head of the male character. The wood is oxidized, a sign of the age of these works.
